3 Tips for Caring for Your Hardwood Floors

If you have hardwood floors in your home, then you already know you want to care for them, so they remain beautiful and sturdy. While hardwood floors are typically quite easy to care for, there are some tips for how to keep them looking their best for the long term.

  1. Keep a Routine – Having a daily and weekly cleaning routine is one of the easiest ways to maintain your hardwood floors. For example, it’s recommended that you dust or sweep daily, and you can vacuum weekly to keep dust, dirt, pollen, pet dander and other debris from collecting on your flooring.
  2. Monthly Maintenance – It’s also recommended that your hardwood floors get a little bit more of a deep clean on a monthly basis. This is a time when you may want to move area rugs out of the way to damp mop your floors, including giving high-traffic areas some extra attention. You may also wish to use a recommended hardwood floor cleaner to help give them that beautiful sheen that makes your home shine.
  3. Furniture Footing – While hardwood floors are durable, your furniture can scuff and scratch the surface. Placing soft footing or adhesive felt pads on the bottoms of chairs, couches, side tables, and other furniture will ensure that there aren’t any unintended damages to your hardwood floors over time.
